RE: Something New With Me...
OK just thought i would make the offer 15watt practice amp and the 10 dvds + guitar and case for $175.00 plus shipping would be my price for pondering it.
I paid $250 for the whole thing, but i am concentrating on the bass right now so keep it in the back of your mind.

RE: Something New With Me...
Just remember it is all about fun. If you don't have fun while you practice you won't keep doing it.

I am self taught. Don't expect to get good really quickly. If you do then you will start taking it too seriously. And once you start taking it too seriously you stop having fun while you are doing it, which makes you not want to practice any more.

Just play around with it for short periods of time as often as you can. Every time you are bored and got a few spare minutes, pick it up and try a few practice exercises. One thing I found helpful to keep it fun while learning was to practice learning really simple and FUNNY songs. Like theme songs to TV shows you liked as a kid, or something that will make you/others laugh. For me keeping it funny like that made me want to practice more because it was always cool to make people laugh by playing those types of songs, which can often be easy to learn. I still like following my old room mate around while playing La Cucaracha.

Anyway.... now I'm rambling...

My point was just to remember to keep it as light and fun as possible while learning, so you don't burn yourself out on it too quickly by trying to go from Zero to Pro. Save the serious practice for latter when you have a little more skill. Right now just have fun getting used to holding the guitar and playing around with it.

My two cents:
Yamaha is not so good, at least from my experiences (not too bad either though). Fender and Seagull make excellent acoustics for the price. I've played Fender's acoustics that felt as easy to maneuver as a decent electric guitar.

Heres my 7 cents:
If you want a good acoustic get a yamaha. It is the best brand for acoustic guitars.
I have a un-played Yamaha my self at home. I got it new for $200 and it plays better than most $500 acoustics.

RE: Something New With Me...
That's great that you wanna learn guitar. You seem to have good taste in music. It is always great to live out your passion and ,if you are good eventually, make a living at it.In the meantime though instead of selling assets I think one should instead use this as a motivation to find a job, mabye be willing to accept a crummy one for now motivated by your dreams. It still sucks overall but the economy is getting at least a little better lately.Good luck at leaning guitar man.May you fufill your passions!

RE: Something New With Me...
I too have your Amazing Guitar Secrets, and got lost, then frustrated at myself pretty quick. I need some real detail to the bare basics of playing chords. Like another person said I need better video of where your fingers are at.

The harder you fall, the higher you bounce.

Lol... yeah, I played that Yamaha I was looking at a few months before Christmas... it was shite compared to the acoustic I bought before that. A Martin 00-17. I love Martins Tongue

Anyway... I also bought a Fender Stratocaster with a gun metal satin finish.
In a band now too Tongue

Still have my Epiphone Les Paul Jr. lol
